Studying Geography allows students to develop a sense of place, an awareness of different types of environments and cultures and to develop a range of geographical skills. Students also develop the ability to recognise the causes, consequences and solutions of geographical issues.
Within the Geography department students are enabled to develop an awareness of concepts and issues at a range of scales in selected locations within Wales, Europe and the wider world. Students are given the opportunities to study a wide variety of topics encompassing both physical and human geography elements with fieldtrips being an essential part of the key stage three, four and five curricula. Topics currently covered include map skills, weather and climate, ecosystems, landscapes and physical processes, earthquakes and volcanoes, and issues to do with globalization and economic growth.
