Aspire & Achieve

World Environment Day was on 5th June 2023 and this year the focus was on "Solutions to Plastic Pollution." Year 9 had an assembly about it, and then we followed up in class by thinking about how we use plastic and how we dispose of it at home and at school. Year 9 classes worked collaboratively in groups and then wrote letters to the sustainability team at Caerphilly Council to raise the issue of the lack of recycling bins in school.

Clean Air Day was on 15th June and as Year 7's have been learning all about the local and global effects of air pollution, they took part in learning about why the annual Clean Air Day is so important and wrote pledges after reflecting on what action they can take to reduce their impact.

Both year groups have looked at why this is important in relation to the Well-being of Future Generations Act in Wales and how choices in and out of schools can contribute to Zero Waste Wales and becoming Carbon Neutral.
