It’s been a fantastic and action-packed first half term of sport here at St Cenydd, with pupils across all year groups proudly representing the school in a wide range of fixtures.
Our students have shown outstanding commitment, teamwork, and sportsmanship in rugby, football, and netball — with both boys’ and girls’ teams competing in numerous matches across the Caerphilly area and beyond.
In rugby, teams from Years 7 through to Sixth Form have taken part in an impressive number of fixtures, including the Caerphilly Cup competitions. The standout story so far is our Senior Rugby Team, who remain undefeated in the Sixth Form League — a brilliant achievement and a testament to their hard work and determination on the field.
In football, our teams have also been extremely busy, competing in both the Caerphilly Cup and the Welsh Cup. Many sides are still progressing through the rounds, which reflects the strong performances and growing confidence across all age groups. The dedication shown in training and matches has been first class.
Our netball squads have also had an excellent start to the year, with fixtures across multiple year groups and some fantastic displays of skill and teamwork. Participation numbers have been higher than ever, and the enthusiasm within our teams has been brilliant to see.
Overall, this half term has been a shining example of the sporting spirit at St Cenydd. Congratulations to all pupils who have represented the school — we’re proud of every single one of you. A big thank you as well to all staff involved in coaching, organising fixtures, and supporting our young athletes.
We look forward to an even more exciting second half term — with more matches, more progress in the cup competitions, and hopefully even more success on the field and court!
