A number of Year 7 students enjoyed a visit to St Fagans. They were involved in the Victorian school experience, which gave them first-hand experience of a Victorian classroom and how the Victorians stopped children in Wales speaking Welsh in the classroom with the use of the Welsh Not. They also learnt about having their hand tied if they used their left hand to write, as during that time it was thought that the devil was on your left shoulder, so children were forced to use their right hand when writing even if they were left-handed!
They spent time exploring the different living conditions during different periods in time as they toured the terraced houses, farms and cottages. A very informative and fun day!
