Aspire & Achieve

On Friday 8th November, the Year 11 BTEC Home Cooking Skills pupils had the opportunity to visit Coleg y Cymoedd, Ystrad Mynach campus. After a tour of the campus to view the vast array of courses and departments available, we arrived at our final destination (via aeroplane!)

The main purpose of our visit was to learn more about the Catering courses on offer at the college. The pupils learned more about the courses they could follow, the wide range of job opportunities available and saw the Catering students at work in the restaurant kitchen. It was lovely to see some former St Cenydd students, who were hard at work, preparing lunch.

We then enjoyed a delicious 3 course lunch in Scholars Restaurant, which is run by the Level 2 and 3 students and is open to the public.

All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the visit and it gave them a good insight into future opportunities and training. Several of them have already started their college applications!

Scholars Restaurant is open on Thursdays and Fridays during term and is well worth a visit.
