Dear Pupils and Parents in years 9 and 11
Re: Transition arrangements for key stage 4 (GCSE) and key stage 5 (A level) 2021
The spring term is always the time when focus is given to the next educational milestone. Although working remotely at the moment, we will be continuing to assist all year 9 and 11 pupils to make informed transition choices about the move into GCSEs, A levels or another suitable post 16 pathway, in readiness for September 2021.
Mr Jones (Head of Years 12/13) will shortly send out an online survey to year 11 pupils which will look at all the options available post 16, including returning to our Sixth Form for A level study. Within the next couple of weeks I will be asking year 9 pupils to complete a ‘free-choice’ survey where they will pick three possible GCSE option subjects they would like to follow in the GCSE years ahead. In both cases the information we receive from the surveys will inform future curriculum planning prior to final option choice forms being distributed to pupils by the end of this term.
It is intended that the key stage 4 and 5 prospectuses which accompany our transition programmes will be posted out to each pupil by February half-term. These will help to further inform pupils about the St. Cenydd offer of courses available at GCSE and A level in the year to come. More in depth information about the full transition arrangements will also be available in these documents.
If you have any urgent queries or enquiries about transition into key stage 4 or into key stage 5, please do not hesitate to contact either Mr Jones (jonesa9@stcenydd.co.uk) or myself (sassp@stcenydd.co.uk).
Many thanks
Mr P. Sass
Assistant Headteacher (Curriculum and Support)
