Dear Parents and Carers
Unfortunately, I have been notified this afternoon that that we have a positive case of Covid-19 within the school.
A pupil has tested positive for coronavirus and we therefore need to follow strict public health protocols to ensure the health and wellbeing of the whole school community.
As a result, all pupils in Year 11 must isolate at home for 14 days since the positive case was last in school.
This means that all pupils in Year 11 must isolate at home until Wednesday 28 October 2020 (which is in half term).
Y11 pupils will not be able to return to school until Monday 2 November 2020.
Current public health advice states that other members of your household do not need to self-isolate. You should, however, be particularly vigilant about your child’s health and if they display any coronavirus symptoms, you should ensure that they are tested as soon as possible.
Home schooling will, of course, be provided for Year 11 for the next week. These details will be shared on Google classroom by their class teacher from Monday onwards as per their timetable. We may also use your child’s school email account to share details of the work they should complete over the next week. Mr Harrison (Assistant Headteacher KS4) will confirm these arrangements on Monday for any child who is unsure of how to log onto their accounts. For those Y11 pupils in top sets who are sitting Maths exams in a few weeks’ time, the Maths department will continue to provide revision support via Google classroom.
I know that this will cause you all some concern and this is completely understandable. However, I want to reassure you that all appropriate risk assessments and safety measures are in place throughout the school. These are being strictly followed to protect all pupils and staff and to limit the risk of any cross-contamination.
Yours sincerely
Miss Collins
Head Teacher
