Dear Parents and Carers
Unfortunately, I have been notified this afternoon that that we have two positive cases of Covid-19 within the school.
A pupil has tested positive for coronavirus and we therefore need to follow strict public health protocols to ensure the health and wellbeing of the whole school community.
As a result, all children in class 7.2.1 will need to isolate at home for 14 days. In case your child is not clear which class they are in: class 7.2.1. is a Year 7 class, it is a top set class and this class have had all of their lessons in U5 which is a science laboratory on the upper floor of the lower block.
This means that all children in class 7.2.1 will not be able to return to school until Monday 28/09/20.
Current public health advice states that other members of your household do not need to self-isolate. You should, however, be particularly vigilant about your child’s health and if they display any coronavirus symptoms, you should ensure that they are tested as soon as possible.
Home schooling will, of course, be provided for all children in class 7.2.1 for the next two weeks for all of their subjects. These details will be shared on Google classroom by their class teacher from tomorrow onwards. We may also use your child’s school email account and the school website to share details of the work they should complete over the next two weeks. Mr Dickinson (Assistant Headteacher KS3) and Miss Steer (Head of Year 7) will confirm these arrangements tomorrow for any child who is unsure of how to log onto their accounts.
A member of our cleaning team has also tested positive for coronavirus and we therefore need to follow strict public health protocols to ensure the health and wellbeing of the whole school community. The area of the school cleaned by this member of staff is being deep cleaned this afternoon and evening, allowing adequate time to clean these areas as per their strict guidelines. As such, this area of the school will be ready to open tomorrow morning as normal along with all other areas of the school.
I know that this will cause you all some concern and this is completely understandable. However, I want to reassure you that all appropriate risk assessments and safety measures are in place throughout the school. These are being strictly followed to protect all pupils and staff and to limit the risk of any cross-contamination.
Yours sincerely
Miss Collins
Head Teacher
