Dear Pupils
I hope that you and your loved ones are safe and well.
Following the Welsh Government announcement two weeks ago that all schools would begin a phased reopening from Monday 29 June, guidance has now been published by Welsh Government outlining their expectations. This, along with the information that your parents /carer have provided us with about your attendance, is shaping our plan for a safe phased return to school. We are really looking forward to seeing you!
The Welsh Government have suggested that all children should have three sessions in school over the four weeks in much smaller classes. It is our intention to have classes of 10 pupils to ensure social distancing at all times. This limited ‘in school time’ for the remainder of the summer term will be supported with learning for you to complete at home, getting you ready for a similar experience in September. Your parents / carer will receive information by text on Monday 22 June 2020 detailing the dates and times of when you can come into school.
It is important to note that the school experience from 29 June will not be as it was before. I have prepared a detailed ‘Questions and Answers’ document for you and your parents which is attached to this email. It sets out our expectations of you, and of all pupils and staff, so that we can ensure that we are behaving safely and looking after one another. We will all be strictly adhering to 2 metre social distancing, to hand hygiene and to surface hygiene. We have sent these 'Questions and Answers' to your parents too this afternoon, and it is also on the school website. I hope that I have answered most of your questions in it! Please read it carefully.
Our key priority in all of our planning has been your safety and that of all of our pupils and staff. We have had two virtual staff meetings recently and your teachers and staff are very much looking forward to welcoming you back to school. Although it will be a very different structure from a ‘normal’ school day, there will still be lessons, there will still be support, and there will be friendship and laughter!
As also mentioned in my letter last week to your parents, if at all possible, please make alternative travel plans to CCBC school buses and taxis. I strongly urge you to walk or cycle to school if possible, or to be dropped off at school by your parents rather than use school buses or public transport.
I will be back in touch with you by the end of next week with the final details and expectations before the school reopens. You will also receive a video of the school next week showing you the changes which have been made to the site and to your classrooms.
I hope that you find the ‘Questions and Answers’ document helpful and informative.
Please take care and stay safe. We are really looking forward to seeing you!
Best wishes
Miss Collins
