Dear Parents and Carers
Learning at Home from the 4th May onwards
Many thanks for all of your support at this challenging time. We are very grateful for everything you are doing to make sure that your child is accessing and completing the work set for them by their teachers. Based on your feedback, starting on the 4th May, we are going to streamline how we set learning at home to make it more manageable and so that it is clearer what we are expecting of students.
If your child is in Years 7, 8 or 9
- Work will be set according to the timetable published on the school website every Monday. The specific details for a day’s learning sessions will be sent to students by their teachers at 08:30 on the day via Google Classroom.
- Each learning session will include a ‘Core Learning Activity’ and a ‘Challenge Learning Activity’.
- We want all of our students to engage with the ‘Core Learning Activity’ which should take between 30-45 minutes. It does not have to be completed during the exact slot on the timetable and although we want all students to engage fully with ‘Core Learning Activities’ we will not be sanctioning students for non-completion.
- ‘Challenge Learning Activities’ are entirely optional and there will also be 3 ‘Looking after yourself’ challenges that students can choose to complete across a week.
If your child is in Year 10
- Work will be set according to the timetable published on the school website every Monday. The specific details for a day’s learning sessions will be sent to students by their teachers at 08:30 on the day via Google Classroom.
- Students will be provided with a Learning Checklist listing their core learning for the half-term so that they can track their own progress.
- Each learning session will include a ‘Core Learning Activity’ and a ‘Challenge Learning Activity’ and students should spend around 90 minutes completing them. Work does not have to be completed during the exact slot on the timetable but we want all students to engage fully with ‘Core Learning Activities’ so that they can continue to revise and progress with their GCSE courses.
- There will also be 3 ‘Looking after yourself’ challenges that students can choose to complete across a week.
If your child is in Year 11
- Work will be set by your child’s class teachers. This may include:
a bridging project which helps to prepare them for AS level work in the subject.
a KS5 relevant reading list, including some texts which are freely available online.
links to streaming, BBC red button shows, online resources that enrich the curriculum your child covered this year, will help them prepare them for AS level, or simply increase their cultural capital
- We will be setting the whole year group some character based resources on resilience created by Eton College.
- There will also be 3 ‘Looking after yourself’ challenges that students can choose to complete across a week.
If your child is in Year 12
- Work will be set by your child’s class teachers as and when required.
- Students will be provided with a Learning Checklist listing their core learning for the half-term so that they can track their own progress.
- We will be setting the whole year group some resources to help them prepare for interviews, created by Eton College.
- There will also be 3 ‘Looking after yourself’ challenges that students can choose to complete across a week.
If your child is in Year 13
- We will be setting the whole year group some resources to help them prepare for interviews, created by Eton College.
- Staff will be sharing useful transition material with students.
- There will also be 3 ‘Looking after yourself’ challenges that students can choose to complete across a week.
Please stay home and stay safe.
Mr Chandler and Mr Sass
