Dear Parents / Carers
I am sorry to send you this letter in the holidays.
I have the very sad task of informing you of the death of Mr Steve Barrow at the weekend following a short period of illness. Mr Barrow has been a treasured and much-loved member of our school community, and we will miss him so very much. Mr Barrow has been the Business Manager at our school for many years, managing our school site, leading the many important site improvements we have made, and overseeing the day-to-day management of our school finances. His care and attention to detail can be seen across our school site, and he was committed to providing the very best learning environment for the pupils of our school and community. I know that, like us, your thoughts will be with his family and friends at this difficult time.
When we return to school on Monday after the half term break, we will have assemblies and quiet spaces available for pupils and staff. We will talk about how we will support one another and how it is normal, when someone dies, to experience lots of different feelings like sadness, anger, and confusion. I know you will want to discuss this news with your child to support them, and this is my main reason for writing to you before the beginning of the new half term with this very sad news.
We will offer support at school and please do not hesitate to contact the Head of Year if you feel your child needs extra support. If your child wishes to have support outside of school, Cruse Cymru offers a free service and information about this can be found at www.cruse.org.uk.
Thank you for your support at this difficult time for our school community.
Yours sincerely
Miss Collins
