Dear Parents/Carers,
Re: Traffic movement around Hendre Infants / Juniors school site
We write to you on behalf of CCBC. Traffic movement around the Hendre Infants/Juniors site remains a concern at school drop-off/pick-up and we are working closely with CCBC as they consider options.
The volume of vehicles entering and waiting around the school sites is an issue. We continue to encourage children, where appropriate and safe to do so, to walk/cycle to school. Where pick-up/drop-off is essential we would encourage lift sharing to reduce the number of vehicles around the school sites.
CCBC would also like us to remind you to:
- Drive slowly.
- Park legally and appropriately in designated bays. Please note that disabled bays are for disabled visitors to school sites to attend pre-arranged meetings only. These bays should not be used for waiting/collection purposes unless collecting a learner in possession of a disabled badge.
- Be alert for pedestrian movement.
As you can appreciate, ensuring the safety of all learners and others using the school sites is our and CCBC’s absolute priority. We have already implemented some changes including improved signage and road markings and implementing a one-way system in the front car park. We are also intending to create a footpath from the rear carpark to allow safe pedestrian access for those using this area.
We will continue to work closely across all three schools and with our colleagues in CCBC Health and Safety as they implement improvements and to monitor their effectiveness.
CCBC staff have asked us to remind you that accessing school sites for drop-off/pick-up is not an entitlement and if necessary, they will need to consider restricting vehicular access/movement of vehicles between key times.
Thank you for your support in ensuring the safety of all.
Yours sincerely
Mr John Farmer Miss Rebecca Collins
