Dear Parent/Guardian
I am just writing to inform you that your son/daughter will be sitting a mock examination for either GCSE Mathematics or Numeracy on both Tuesday 20 September and Wednesday 21 September 2022.
These are an important school examinations, preparing for their actual GCSE exams in November and, based on the performance of these results we will decide whether your child will be entered for the qualification in November. There could also be re-setting of students as a consequence of their performance in these exams.
The dates of the GCSE Examinations are:
Maths
Unit 1 Monday 14 November and Unit 2 Wednesday 16 November 2022
Numeracy
Unit 1 Tuesday 8 November and Unit 2 Thursday 10 November 2022
Please can you also encourage your child to attend the Maths revision session provided after school from 3.05pm on the following days:
Higher Tier on a Wednesday (classes taught by Mr Jones and Miss Owens)
Intermediate tier on a Thursday (classes taught by Mr Mcgregor, Mrs Ricketts and Mrs Williams)
Foundation tier on a Monday (classes taught by Mrs Hadid and Mr Tram)
There will also be the sessions provided during registration are on a Tuesday and Thursday. There are also past papers and revision resources on the department Google Drive folder which is accessible via a link on the Maths Department page on the St Cenydd website. We also would recommend the use of the St Cenydd Maths YouTube channel and Mathswatch for videos to support your child’s revision.
