Dear Parent/Carer,
Following the completion of mock examinations and with approximately seven weeks of teaching left before the GCSE exam season begins in May I’d like to bring you up to date with some of the preparations in place to support your child.
St Cenydd School has invested in GCSEPod, the award winning digital content and revision provider. GCSEPod provides over 6,500 3-5 minute bursts of visual learning ‘Pods’. The way in which GCSEPod maps content can help revision be much more manageable as your child can see their revision displayed in a logical way. At this time of year, we ask you to encourage and support your child to engage in revision in any way you can.
Your child can download the GCSEPod app from the App Store (Apple and Android are supported) and download the content straight to your child’s device.
Your child has already been registered with GCSEPod and if they’ve not yet activated their account they will need to follow the instructions below. If your child has already activated but can’t remember their username and password, please ask them to contact a member of staff.
- Go to www.gcsepod.com and click “Login” in the top right-hand corner
- Click “New to GCSEPod? Get started.”
- Select “Pupil”
- Enter your child’s name, date of birth and confirm the school name.
- Create a username, password, and a password hint to help you remember the password.
For more ways you can help support your child using GCSEPod, please visit www.gcsepod.com/parents where you’ll find lots more information and resources.
To help prepare your child we have also organised a series of workshops to teach support strategies for revision, wellbeing and exam techniques which will be delivered by ‘Positively You’, an external provider we have worked in partnership with previously. These sessions are taking place on March 18, and the 7 and 29 April. We will also be holding a parent / carer twilight session on Thursday 7 April between 4-5pm to share some of these strategies with you (further details to follow).
There are also a number of after school revision sessions taking place, and departments are also providing online revision resources within their Google Classrooms.

If you would like to find out more about revision and supporting your child through the exam season, then please look at the revision section on the school’s website which has some helpful resources. These include links to revision resources and sources of wellbeing support.
We have also launched our Prom Passport which rewards pupils as they achieve important milestones in advance of their exams. The Year 11 Prom is on the 7th July.
Year 11 photographs will take place on Tuesday 22 March. The final date for all GCSE exams is Wednesday 29 June.
Teaching and support staff will continue to do all that they can to ensure your child is well prepared to sit their exams this summer. If you have any queries then please contact Mr Corke (Head of Year 11), Mr Harrison (Assistant Headteacher KS4/5) or I.
Yours sincerely,
Mr C Bown
Deputy Headteacher
