Dear Year 9 pupil, parent/guardian,
Further to my letter of 21st January, 2022 outlining the transition programme for year 9 pupils from key stage 3 to key stage 4 this year, I am pleased to inform you that pupils received a copy of the Key Stage 4 prospectus today. The prospectus gives details of all the courses which pupils will have to follow in years 10 and 11, as well as the specifications for the courses from which they will be able to choose in the next half-term. This link also takes you to an electronic copy of this prospectus which is located on the school website under the ‘Curriculum/Options’ tabs.
Additional advice and guidance can be found on the Welsh Government website, here is a link for this.
Miss Kirsty Downey, our school Careers Advisor, is also available to help pupils with any questions or concerns they may be facing, her contact details can also be accessed via the school website under the ‘Students/Careers’ tabs; the link here should take you directly to this page.
‘Principles of Excellent Learning’ work has continued in form classes this term and a journal has been created to help pupils learn about the variety of courses available for study at St. Cenydd in the years to come. A link to this has been placed on the year 9 Google Careers classroom which all year 9 pupils should have access to, and will further help to give information and subject specific advice.
As per the timeline shared in January, a first run of options will take place in school after the half-term break which will allow us to establish whether courses are able to run and the final structure of the option columns to be released to pupils on Wednesday 23rd March, 2022.
As we continue to work together through this important process I would welcome the opportunity to answer any further questions or queries you may have; please use the contact details at the bottom of this letter to raise them with me.
Yours faithfully,
Mr P. Sass
Assistant Headteacher
