Dear All
Unfortunately we have had a significant number of positive pupil cases reported over the weekend and this morning, as well as a significant number of staff who are currently unwell and not fit to attend school. With the very high positive case numbers reported, it is likely that we will face daily staff availability challenges this week. We have been understandably instructed to prioritise Y11-Y13 for onsite learning.
We will not have sufficient staff to fully open the school site tomorrow (Tuesday 25 January 2022). Therefore, Year 8 will learn from home tomorrow (Tuesday 25 January 2022). At this stage, all other year groups should attend school as normal tomorrow. This is subject to change should we face further staff availability pressures and I will contact you as soon as possible with such arrangements should they be required tomorrow or later this week.
As per my letter at the beginning of term, year groups learning from home will access pre-planned work by our department staff. Remote learning work will be sent to pupil school Gmail accounts and will also be posted on year group Google Classrooms on the morning of the day they are working at home. Pupils will access a St Cenydd Google site where they will find video lessons from teachers in our school for every subject. Although a workbook is provided, pupils should complete their work in their exercise books, on Google Docs, or on paper.
Please be advised secondary schools no longer send ‘warn and inform’ letters to parents. Please therefore be extra vigilant for symptoms and please continue to support our school by ensuring that your child
- undertakes lateral flow tests three times a week
- has the vaccination / boosters
- wears a face covering indoors on school site
Thank you for your support.
