Dear Parents and Carers
It has been a busy and successful half term as we have settled back into the rhythm of the academic year. I continue to be very pleased with the attitude, engagement and endeavour of nearly all of our pupils, and they have been very well supported by their teachers and staff.
School uniform
I have been pleased with the standard of uniform of many children. Our uniform expectations have not changed and are as outlined on our school website e.g.
- Makeup - only discreet, not noticeable foundation is allowed. Any other makeup is not permitted. Students will be asked to remove any other makeup.
- Skirts must be knee length and plain black. Pupils must wear tights which must be plain and black.
- Trousers must be full length and plain black. The following are not permitted – jeans, jogging bottoms, leggings, jeggings, skinny fit, etc.
We will be reinforcing our uniform expectations after half term and ask for your support in ensuring that your child is correctly attired for school each morning.
Lateral Flow Tests over half term break
The Welsh Government has said that all staff and secondary school pupils should continue to test twice a week over half-term and preferably take an LFD test the night before they return to school after the break. This will be on Sunday 31 October. We have been asked to remind parents and children about the importance of COVID testing over half-term.
Travelling to and from school
I ask for your support in ensuring that your child travels safely to school. We have had a report of unsafe behaviour as children walk to and from school, stepping out into the road with no attention to traffic, and acting in an unsafe way. In our assemblies after half term we will be reminding pupils of the Highway Code and safe behaviours. I appreciate your support in reinforcing these messages with your child.
We continue to support Caerphilly school transport department in their and our expectations of those who travel by bus. Again, I appreciate your support in reinforcing safe behaviour expectations if your child travels to school by bus. Please remind your child that they must wear a face covering on buses.
A reminder also that there is no legal right turn onto the school drive. Please go up to the roundabout and then turn left onto the school drive.
Thank you for your support in these important matters. We return to school on Monday 1 November and I hope that your children have a lovely half term break.
Yours sincerely
Miss Collins
