Dear Parent/Carer
School Uniform – changes from September 2024
We have reviewed our school uniform policy. In summary the Governors wish to reduce the items of school uniform that have a school badge and therefore must be purchased from a specific retailer. The changes to our policy will come into action from 1 September 2024.
From September your child will require either a school blazer or a school jumper/cardigan. The school tie remains the same. All other items (e.g. shirts, skirts, trousers, etc) can be purchased from any retailer. Expectations for September are on our school website.
From September PE kit requirements will be a plain white polo shirt with plain black leggings or shorts. If your child wishes to wear their current badged PE kit, they will be able to do so. However, if your child has grown out of their kit, this can be replaced with items as above. The school will purchase a range of St Cenydd sport kits for rugby, football, netball, etc for our school teams to wear in their fixtures.
Please remember that we keep a good stock of preloved uniform at school, and that we welcome all donations of school uniform at reception.
Please also remember the Welsh Government grant known as the Schools Essentials Grant. Pupils who qualify for a free school meal should automatically have this additional financial support for uniform, sports kit and equipment. For new Year 7 pupils this year the grant is worth £200, and for Year 8-11 pupils the grant is £125. Details can be found on the Caerphilly council website. I would urge anyone who believes that they may qualify for free school meals to complete an application form so that your child can have a free meal each day as well as receive this funding towards uniform and equipment.
Thank you for your support with our new mobile phone policy which has been very successful.
I will write to you before the end of the school year which ends at 2.55pm on Wednesday 17 July 2024.
Yours sincerely
Miss Rebecca V. Collins
