Dear Parent / Carer,
Your child’s exams begin on the 16 May. Thank you for your support as we all work together to ensure your child is as prepared as they possibly can be. I wanted to take this opportunity to remind you of some key information in advance of the exam season.
The workshops delivered by ‘Positively You’ have been very popular and have covered topics such as effective revision, exam technique and wellbeing. This link will take you to a summary video of these workshops for parents/carers which I hope you find useful.
The revision section on the school’s website has helpful resources to support your child. These include links to revision resources and sources of wellbeing support. We understand that some pupils may find examinations stressful and we have staff on hand to provide support. If your child has any concerns please contact their Head of Year in the first instance. There are also a number of additional revision sessions taking place, and departments are also providing online revision resources within their Google Classrooms.
Examination timetables have been issued to pupils. Any queries should be raised with Mrs Evans (our Examinations Officer) as soon as possible. The final possible day for GCSE / AS / A level examinations is Wednesday 29 June, which is the national exams contingency day. The national JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) rules regarding conduct in examinations have been shared with pupils and they should follow these precisely. The details of these can be found here.
For all exams, pupils must wear the correct school uniform and bring the relevant equipment for the examination. They also need to be punctual. Although on their timetable it will state a 9:00am start, pupils must be in school by 8:35am to be registered and seated correctly.
I hope that you find this information useful and it helps you support your child through their examinations. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,
Mr C Bown
Deputy Headteacher
