Aspire & Achieve

St Cenydd had another highly successful year in the Urdd Gymnastics.  In the Caerphilly round in December, Nicole Dighton (Y7-9 Girls), Aaron Wilkes (Y7-9 Boys) and Connor Hall (Y10/11 Boys) all triumphed in the individual competitions.  St Cenydd were denied a clean sweep with the shock result of Welsh squad gymnast Lauren Davey coming second in the Y10/11 girls competition by 0.1 following a one second time penalty.

Nicole and Connor competed with distinction.  In a very tight completion, there were a number of girls from all regions of Wales competing.  Nicole had the daunting task of going first!  However, she controlled her nerves and excelled, claiming the Gold medal!  An amazing performance from a much improved gymnast – congratulations!

Connor is ranked 3rd in Wales in his age group in Squash, so he was a little reluctant to compete, gymnastics not being something he participates in very often.  However, after a couple of practice sessions he was soon back to his best.  Connor also displayed no nerves, producing an accomplished display to also claim the Gold medal – a performance to be proud of.

Very well done and congratulations to both pupils.
