Pupils from KS3 and KS4 had the unique opportunity to see the heart of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience in Hoddinott Hall, which is located inside the Millenium Cente, Cardiff Bay.

The open rehearsal allowed pupils to hear the orchestra and watch the conductor and soloists’ preparation for an upcoming concert. Pupils also had the opportunity to ask the conductor questions before the rehearsal started. The conductor took time throughout the rehearsal to introduce instruments and to explain the different techniques that they were using, alongside highlighting some of the significant musical features.

After the rehearsal had finished pupils also met one of the trombone players where they were able to ask questions about life as a musician. A very insightful experience!
